This book "speaks" directly to the sole reasons for my purchase. Unfortunately, in the last few years I have suffered some drastic changes in my feelings of self-confidence and my level of depression. So far, this book is helping me gain a new outlook on education; that I have been in search of, desperately. But most importantly; how I need to adapt to the new ways in which, district office personnel, administrators, parents, politicians, government and the public in general, view educators of today. Unfortunately, although this review is more of a venting session, this book has provided me with some insight into the impression "people" have of us as a whole. Unfortunately, even though many of us go above and beyond to provide a quality education, the consensus of others is that, we (educators) don't care about anything but getting paid and getting vacations. Since I have been so jaded by the following; the decline in our value to everyone mentioned above, that we have entirely too much time and we need to be brought to task, the need for grade levels to have identical rooms and the message that we don't warrant respect, to name just a few; this book is restoring my belief that we do matter and specifically, that we are very concerned with the importance of our work. If you have experienced any of the aforementioned feelings, I hope this book will help restore your faith as much as it is for me.
