EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY

Dr. K. Sivarajan, M.A., M.Ed., Ph.D., is Dean, Faculty of Education; Chairman, Board of Studies in Education (PG); and Chief Co-ordinator of University Teacher Education Centers, University of Calicut. He is a retired Professor of University of Calicut. He has 32 years teaching experience, out of these 12 years as Principal, University College of Teacher Education. Formerly he was Syndicate Member of Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University, Kaladi. He has written 27 books on education and most of these books are reference books for B.Ed. and M.Ed. courses of the Universities in Kerala. He is a recipient of Best Teacher Educator Award 2009 instituted by the Indian Counsel for Teacher Education and Dr. Ambedkar Fellowship 1997 instituted by Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Academy.

As the title of the book, Educational Psychology, suggests, it specifically pertains to the significance of the relevant psychology behind imparting of education in modern perspective. It also concerns with preparing the quality teachers to impart education in a way that can meet the arising demand of the time in educational domain. The objective behind bringing out this book is to solve the problem faced by many teachers and students of the enhanced two-year programme where the lack of textbooks has been observed. This book has been written following the B.Ed. syllabus for the subject. However, it can also be used as a useful reference book for the D.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes. The book includes various topics ranging from Transactional Analysis at one end and Constructivism at the other. The theories of the world's renowned psychologists have been explained in it systematically and effectively. Simultaneously, the new areas have been made more meaningful by shedding light on their dynamics and educational implications.
