This book is based on NCTE two year REd curriculum framework, to bring a paradigm shift from conventional teaching centric to learning centric constructivistic approach and intends to prepare teachers as a reflective practitioners. This book has been divided into 5 units. It starts with a brief introduction to understanding the nature of science, the components of scientific method explained with illustration. The second unit gives the relationship between science and society, the historical development of science along with the contributions of different eminent biologists and their reflections on society. The third unit throws light on aims of learning biological sciences, the ways of nurturing the processing skills, creativity and aesthetic sense along with developing scientific attitude, scientific temper and problem solving skills. The fourth unit gives an over all view of the objectives of biological sciences with a brief note on Anderson and Krathwohl's taxonomy with a focus on students. And finally the fifth unit include a critical discussion on the pedagogical shift in biological sciences. Exercises given at the end of each unit will provide an opportunity for sharing students views and experiences, trigger their minds to think divergently and reflect upon their teaching learning process of Biological Sciences.
